G’day I’m Nicola!
I’m a mum, wife and journalist from Northern New South Wales, Australia, who’s been inspired by others’ stories since I was young.
In my childhood I was surrounded by tales of life on a dairy farm and the Depression as told by my mum’s mum when my family lived with her for nine years.
In my teens I worked as a secretary at my father’s doctor’s surgery and elderly patients would tell me about their lives immigrating from revolutionary Russia or as a World War II prisoner.
When I finished university I spent the next couple of decades working in Australia and England as a daily print journalist steeped in other people’s stories shift after shift.
Now I find myself telling my husband and our two young children my own stories.
A family story
My kids are one of the main reasons I helped my dad’s mum write her autobiography in her late 90s.
Do you know what I discovered by doing this?
It was a fun adventure of discovery! I learnt amazing things about this majestic lady that I never knew.
We bonded through talking about her stories and memories.
And I felt I understand and appreciated her more than ever.
I’m thankful that she shared her story with its inspiration, courage and wisdom.
It is an heirloom for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Why I do what I do
Just like my grandmother, you don’t need to be a celebrity or a fancy writer to create a life story.
Everyone has a story, and it is worth sharing, especially with your family and friends.
That’s why I started this website, Forever Young Autobiograpies.
I’m dedicated to guiding ordinary people step by step to start, create and finish life-story projects for family and friends.
My aim is for you to one day hold in your hands an informative, entertaining and inspiring story about your life or the life of a loved one!
